I saw that there are websites selling “OEM” transponder keys, but my dealer said they refuse to cut or program keys ordered online because sometimes the metal of the key is “too hard” and it messes up their machine, and other times the transponder fails and they don’t want to waste time. One locksmith I called said that they can’t do keys for Nissans because the transponder needs multiple power sources to be programmed and their machine won’t do it. Are there companies out there that can program a key for a 2000 Nissan Maxima? I really want to buy a key with the remote functions built in and saw one on ikeyless.com . Locksmith locations near Denver would help most, as I heard the vehicle must be present for programming. Thanks!

Ive lost my one and only car key. Yes, very bad decision to not have the key duplicated. We have been unsuccessful in finding the key. I have read and been told that a Locksmith can help me. Also that a dealer ship can. We are living in Okinawa, Japan. Would a toyota dealership be able to make a key for a 96 model???

Im having problems shifting from park. I have been reading online about this problem all day. I recently had to have a locksmith cut apart my ignition after losing the keys. Im worried that might be part of the problem. Also I have one tail lite that is out. Sometimes after a lot of trying, I can get the car to move from park. I am trying to figure out where the manual shift lock release is but there is no key slot or any kind of button that I can see.
i took apart plastic parts around the shifter and looked for hours for a button or keyslot in the hot sun…..where else could a manual shift lock release be?

I broke my ignition key a while ago, and while I was able to get a replacement made, it wasn’t perfect. Now I have to twist and turn the key in the ignition in different ways until it finally turns in the ignition. Are there any locksmith methods that can make some kind of replacement based on the ignition lock, or will I need to get the whole thing replaced?

I’m bi and not out. A week ago, I went to a locksmith in the mall to cut keys. Whilst waiting for them, a cute girl was in line to organize her keys. There were a few other people around but everyone was just in their own world because it was sort of a long wait. I noticed her immediately and I was discreetly checking her out whilst she was on the phone and looking in her bag etc… Minutes later, we were right next to each other and facing each other as she was still in line and I was waiting next to the line. Soon after I had stopped checking her out and I don’t think she saw me doing it, she was observing me intently but with a warm look on her face. When she saw look back at her and half smile, she didn’t look away and continued looking me straight in the eyes with a half smile too and a somewhat embarrassed look on her face. I think that it was mutual attraction and my gaydar went off though initially I thought her to be straight cuz she is femme.
Anyway, last night I was browsing an online dating site, I saw her pic up and her profile said that she is interested in women. I was very excited by that….my intuition was right on about her. But the dating site doesn’t allow much connecting between users without payment (one cannot even send a msg without paying) and I can’t pay for their ‘extra’ services at this time. And apparently she doesn’t log in often to it, according to the last login date on her profile. However, I saw her on facebook as well and I want to connect with her there.
Should I just add her as a friend with no msg OR should I her msg saying that I saw her on the online dating site and ask if she remembers me from the mall by the locksmith? We didn’t actually meet but there was definitely some extended eye contact and some sort of mutual interest then. She definitely wouldn’t know me by name and I look a little different in my profile pic from how I looked in person last wk. What info should I include or leave out? What do you think?
btw…. the online dating site I saw her on is overtly connected to facebook…..so it let me know immediately that her user name is the same as her facebook name. On fb, she has put that she is interested in women so i guess she is out…

I inherited an Itoki Gold Safe Strong 88 safe from my mother and we’ve lost the combination to access it. I was thinking of contacting a local locksmith company to get a quote on how much they’d charge to open it, but I also read online that there are manufacturer combinations that you can use to open a safe, is this true?
To further clarify, I meant to say with manufacturer combinations that some people just don’t change them.

How to open my back door without a key?

I’ve lost the key to my back door. From doing a search on the internet I think it’s a mortise lock – the lock looks like this, and is locked with a similar type of key as the one in this picture: http://www.sz-wholesale.com/uploadFiles/060325102137s.jpg – I’m a bit broke at the moment and would rather not have to pay to get a locksmith in – it’s not important that I unlock this door as I don’t use it very often; in fact the only reason I’d like to be able to open the door is for easier access to my back garden to take the bins out once a week. Bit of a pain having to go the long way round, through the front door! Is there any way to get the door open (without breaking windows etc), without causing any/much damage to the door? I’ve tried using a credit card to force the lock open but the doorframe overlaps the gap between the door and frame,so it’s difficult to get the card all the way in. I can’t see whether the card is going in between the lock and frame, or just bending. Any ideas?
I forgot to say; it’s quite a new lock as I had to change them when my ex ‘messed up’ my old lock by superglueing it! He’d also tried to force the door open so as a result, the door frame is a bit chipped – there are dents in the frame around the area of the lock, and the door is a bit loose in the frame or something – you can push the door so far and rattle it. Would this help in opening the door in any way? Prising it open or something?
Yeah but I’m not even slightly mechanically minded, and would never be able to figure out how to unlock a door with a hair pin! I’d get as far as sticking the pin in the lock and jiggling it about a bit…but I doubt that’d work! And breaking the door down would be painful (I’m female, and quite slim) and expensive. I can’tr afford to get a new door at the moment…

I really need to change the locks for my cadillac 1986 sedan deville. The lock and key is messed up and wont open its a pain and I dont want to be locked out. I dont need ignition key because its a diffrent key and it works fine. Just need to change the door lock(s) and it should be pretty easy. my friend is also a locksmith and I can get sum help from him.
I have no time for online bullsh!t ordering so if you suggest that, you are wasting your time. Let me know Where I can find the locks? I mean… do Locksmiths sell the keys? Or Whaat?

We have an old beat-up Hartmann wardrobe trunk with a missing key which is, of course, locked. I think it was a yard sale find. We haven’t been able to look inside to check the condition of the wardrobe drawers and whatever else might be inside, so it may just be termite fodder at this point.
Right now the lock core spins loosely in its setting and obviously others have tried, but attempts to open it ourselves have failed and this just isn’t worth enough to us to pay a locksmith.
Is there any one best way to bypass/break the lock to open the trunk? We’ve thought of just trying to drill in where the key used to go, but I don’t know whether another way might be easier (maybe prying up from under the hasp?) Any suggestions?

I was locked out of my car and called a locksmith company, whose number was listed as being in the same town as me, to help. They first said it would take 20-30 min, then the serviceman called and said 45 min, but it ended up being an hour. Then, it only took him about 2 min to open the door, but he asked for $39 service charge + $110 fo some other reason I couldn’t comprehend. I didn’t know what sort of figures to expect, so I wrote hime the check. I felt it odd though that he asked for the check to be made out to him by his name, not of the company I called. Anyway, I felt bad and decided to do some research online and was shocked to see how often this happens to people. I was definitely scammed out of more money than he deserved. This happened at night, and I checked my bank’s website and found that the check I wrote hasn’t been cashed yet. He may cash it in the morning though, so should I stop the check before it’s too late. Will he come back and cause trouble?
By the way I did not get a reciept. The only form of proof I have is the carbon copy of the check I signed with his name in the “Pay to” section. I know I have to pay him something, but $150 is 3 times what I thought it should be. I’m just afraid to do something and then suffer while trying to negotiate. I would just let bygones be bygones, but I feel like until that check is cashed, I have a possibility of fixing my mistake.
