Ive lost my one and only car key. Yes, very bad decision to not have the key duplicated. We have been unsuccessful in finding the key. I have read and been told that a Locksmith can help me. Also that a dealer ship can. We are living in Okinawa, Japan. Would a toyota dealership be able to make a key for a 96 model???
How do I get a new car key, if Ive lost the one and only car key I have?

You can contact the car manufacture at a local dealer and give them a serial number for the car. They’ll be able to cut you another key. You’ll need to show the registration and ID to prove it is your car though.

My brother in law is a locksmith and he gets that all the time, they can cut a normal car key that will let you into it but if it has a chip it has to be a specialised dealer

You may have a key code, some car manufactures have key codes stored in there computer system go to the dealership you bought it from and they will be able to pull up the key code and cut you a new key if not you can have the ignition swithch changed and get a new key…

yes a locksmith or the dealer will be able to help you. if you decide to call the dealer to help you, you will need the VIN number to give them. its located in the left front corner of you dash board ( readable from outside the vehicle ), and it is also on the drivers door jamb or door itself. the white or blue tag on the door or door jamb. it will start with a J or a 1.
