I lost both sets of keys to my 97 grand prix. I need to know how to go about getting a new one. Can someone tell me how to get the key code so i can just give that to a locksmith? Im in rural Louisiana and there aren’t any GM dealerships near here, and I cant find it online, already looked. Please help!! Thanks!
I lost the keys to my 97 grand prix today.. Supposed to go home from the army tomorrow.. what can i do?

This may work and it may not but it is worth a shot. I went to this website and asked your question. but they wanted to charge me 9 to 30 dollars for an answer and they are ASE Certified Technicians so they must know. go to this link http://www.justanswer.com and if you don’t like their Response you don’t have to pay them you can either except or decline their answer and the money is returned to your account.

GO TO ANY GM DEALER WITH PROOF OF OWNERSHIP AND THEY CAN CUT YOU A STE BY USING THE VIN NUMBER FROM THE CAR. OR CALL A LOCKSMITH .

Wow, dude actually said pay someone to get answer for something so obvious!?!! Poor guy probably is broke from paying everyone for free advice given by most mechanics.
Anyways, yea as said above, go to dealer for the key. All they need is vin number (once confirmed you’re the owner). Usually costs about $18 bucks, but its been a LOOOOONG time since I’ve had to get one from the dealer… However I dont cant see them asking for more. Till then, hot wire it to get you home if you need :/ Worse case scenario you can just replace the whole ignition deal with new key

Dude it sounds crazy but if you need one asap look underneath in the air dam by the driver’s side fog lamp. My 97 had a factory hide a key there with a “valet” key in it. You can atleast get in the car and get it started it won’t open the glove box and the trunk, but you can drive the car with it.
